    Hello,
I wonder if anyone can help?
I'm on the verge on going through a low asset low income bankruptcy in Scotland. Can anyone who has been through this process give me an idea of exactly what to expect??
I'm trying to find out exactly what happens e.g. is your bank account frozen? do you have to provide bank statements.....etc

    Any help/information would be great!

Many thanks to all who post - it's so helpful to read about other people and their experiences.....

    Cheers

    Hi

On the forms I gave details of an existing Alliance&Leicester basic bank account to be considered as my post-bankrupt account. This means as long as balance below £1000 the AiB won't touch it. The banks have the right to refuse to have you as a customer though so they might close it when they are notified that you're bankrupt. So I opened Barclays account after bankrupt. No problems.

You don't have to provide bank statements, I didn't provide evidence of anything, only had to provide income details and details of debts. The forms don't ask about your other outgoings, they abviously assume if you have less than £229 per week coming in you have no extra money to pay off debts. I'm guessing the AiB can check details if need be though.

When my bankruptcy was awarded the letter said they would review my circumstances in 6 months and would be discharged after 1 year. Hope that helps.
