What shape will this recession be in the end?

I voted for a 'W' shape, and agree with the above that it may continue on as an 'L'.0

I have voted L shaped, my reason is not so much that I'm a doom monger
I don't think that's being a doom monger, it's a pretty sensible assessment, and could work out the best for everyone in the long term.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
I have voted L shaped, my reason is not so much that I'm a doom monger, it's that fact that after the extensive reading I have done over the last five years about energy depletion and the rise of the Chinese and Indian economies, we simply do not have the required energy resources to live the decade of 1997-2007 again at this time.
AD, you could have the record for being proved wrong in your prediction of the shape of a recession in the shortest amount of time (days
). It is not impossible that Q2 figures will be positive and signal the end of the first part of the recession.
Apologies, you are not the only one. W for me.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
Ive gone for a rough 'L' shape. Personally i think people out there still want to buy things etc, however with easy credit era now gone for a long while yet the economy is finding a 'floor'. I cant see anything rising at all for the medium term future.0

Pretty convincing to me - and from the comments we have a fair number of people expecting something like this, some calling it a 'W' (well it does go up in the middle and then down again), others seeing this as an L as the up is not big enough to be worth worrying about.1984ReturnsForReal wrote: »
