Thanks for the link Nyk, the coop you've got looks a good size for our planned two bantams! I haven't had a look through the whole thread yet though, too much to do! The visiting kids finally left at 9.30 last night, the house is looking pretty chaotic so lots of tidying planned for tonight. They were playing with mud yesterday to finish off the earth oven by sealing the cracks in the side (which then collapsed when we lit a fire in it, oops, start again...) and managed to cover EVERYTHING in mud at the same time.

Lynda - have you checked you're allowed chickens (I assume they're for the garden)? I'm in my third owned house, and all have stated 'no livestock' in the deeds - so chickens are out of the question for meCheryl0

I checked with my local authority and unless it is specified as no chickens livestock means pigs lambs and cows .........................hence we are getting some chickens despite the clause in our deeds
Best to check though but don't give up hope yet*****

Paint them blue and claim they're budgies? :rotfl:
I don't remember seeing anything in the deeds about livestock, I read through them when we got the house in January. I'll have another look though, just in case.Live on £11k in 20110 -

I wonder if all you jam making experts can help me. Does home made lemon curd freeze at all? I have two lemons that are past their sell by date and inspired by all your lovely pictures of jam I thought I would make lemon curd. I'm the only one that eats it tho so was going to put half in the freezer just wondered if it seperates or anything.
All these lovely receipes making my mouth water:D0 -

pennib I don't know if it freezes but you could put it in very small jars such as those for mint sauce. I saw a this on another forum yesterday I think. Just buy the really cheap stuff and freeze the contents in ice cube trays for cooking with lamb and other foods. Use the jars for your jams and jellies etc.0

Here are some pictures, all the ones on the table are what I did this weekend and the rest are what I did about a week or so ago . The bits in with the carrots are caraway seeds (if you wondered) The rosehip jelly looks very dark in the picture it is actually a golden colour.
