As others have said, he should write to the company immediately requesting that the CCTV is kept and used in the investigation.

It may seem frustrating that he is suspended when you think the matter can be resolved quickly, but the company sound as though they are following the recommended procedures. Allegations of gross misconduct are serious, and the company cannot cut any corners in this process, or they open themselves up to a legal minefield. If as you say there is evidence proving he did nothing wrong, then hopefully the hearing will be a short one and he will be back at work soon.

I think Atermis should adopt his own plan. It would make the world a better, happier place.

Is it a large company, or a smaller one?

I'm quite cynical reading similar posts on MSE recently, and there's been a lot of "unwarranted" suspensions recently.

Is this a case of immoral companies trying to get away from laying people off by an alternative route?

Or - do the company genuinely feel agrieved by something they perceive your husband to have done?

Gross misconduct only falls into a few categories, so it must be pretty serious?

    Hi

The investigation should be completed in a reasonable time frame.

One further thought, is he being paid whilst on suspension? I am not in anyway suggesting that this eases things, terrible time for you I know, but at least you know there is something coming in.

If he is not and returns to work they should pay him for the time he has been out - after all he was not guilty of anything.

CCTV images can turn into a minefield for the employer and come under the remit of data protection regulations. The employer must ensure that the images are only viewed by authorised people and if you suspect this may not be the case the employer may be on shaky ground if they subsequently rely on the images.
