Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz, 1GB RAM 120GB HDD,8.9" Webcam, Blue, Linux Linpus Lite
Ive already got one (the 160gb version from Asda) a while ago for the same price and I think its excellant.

Hope this helps somebody.

You can add an extra 1/2 gb of ram yourselves but it does involve taking the laptop apart! If you look on youtube theres some good advice on how to do it but its not for the novice!0 -
You can add extra RAM yourself. Its a wee bit fiddly but not impossible.0

You need to be careful here.
This comes with 512mb soldered onboard and a 512mb chip in the ONE socket.
So you'll have to take out the 512 and add a 1gb one.
So unfortunately, it's not just a case of adding a 512mb.The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.

Yep your right, it was such a long time ago that I couldnt remember! I just remembered that it could take 1.5gb max, it took me around 45 mins to take it apart insert the ram and put back together and it was very FIDDLEY!0 -
All,
Without wanting to be pedantic, it's worth bearing in mind that this is a NETBOOK, as opposed to a standard laptop.
A netbook is effectively purely for ultra-portable computing, accessing the web, and document handling. If you're looking for movies, or gaming, then you'd be better off going for a more expensive laptop.
The only reason I mention this, is to pre-empt the muppets that post comments saying something to the extent of;
"This is rubbish, it's not got no DVD or nuffink, waste of time 'n all that, innit."
However, if it IS a netbook you're looking for, this is a top piece of kit. I got myself one last week via the Expansys.com deal, and it's fabulous.
Many thanks to OP, and I didn't mean to tread on your toes, just clarify it a bit for those who aren't too certain what they want in a portable computer.** I swear my spending has only gone UP since I discovered the MSE Grabbits!! :rotfl:(But at least I'm getting it all cheaper!!)**0 -

I watch movies on my one all the time. As portable movie player it is pretty good though you have to plug it in the mains if you're watching movies that are longer than two hours.0 -
Can anyone who has one, and the correct type of meter, please tell me how much mains current it draws when running on the mains, of course!
I'm thinking of using one for an always-on smtp server, to save electiricty.
Thanks.0 -

You're absolutely right, it WILL play movie files perfectly well, I was thinking more of those who might want to watch DVDs or even Blu-Rays on their laptop. (Although you CAN get external USB DVD drives if need be)** I swear my spending has only gone UP since I discovered the MSE Grabbits!! :rotfl:(But at least I'm getting it all cheaper!!)**0 -

You might want to save up and buy a 9 cell battery. That'll last you at least 6.The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.
