what flowers will go with my wedding dress please?

its a burgandy bodice with gold skirt (hour glass image)

my bridemaids are wearing gold dresses from bhs

groom, bestmen are wearing gold waistcoats with burgurdy cravets.

what colour flowers should i have for my bouquet also bridemaids flowers and buttonholes please,

the flowers i was thinking of was carnation or roses..... :j


can anyone please help me with this please

i think roses would be very rich looking to match the golds and burgundys, and I would say more traditional flowers would be better than perhaps more modern ones( like lillies or gerberas.)
Carnations are beautiful all together in a tight bunch with perhaps some aspidistra leaves and beargrass to break them up, all tied in a posy.
I think you could probably bring some cream into it somewher as well to bring out the golds.What kind of bouquet are you looking for?

I've seen a really nice wedding dress that sounds similar to yours (red and gold corset and gold skirt.) The flowers to go with it would either be red or cream roses with green foliage in a hand tied bouquet. For the bridesmaids, I would probably have the same colour bouquet, but smaller, or possibly even just a wrist corsage with the same flower as in my bouquet.

Slight word of warning though - some of the older generation say that red and white flowers together are bad luck as they represent 'blood and bandages'. The bad luck aspect comes from the war connotations I guess?! This is what my future MIL said to me when I was talking about bouquets, but she is quite superstitious!

id have your bouquet in burgundy roses with maybe some gold beargrass or gold ribbon round to tie the colours in

the BMs id have in ivory flowers (usually a smaller version of yours) with maybe burgundy ribbon

your H2B should have a slightly different button hole to the rest of the male wedding party either diff flower / foliage or colour

My friend ahd a beautiful gold coloured dress & had arum lillies but the florest dyed the stayment a beautiful caramel-gold to match the dress.
Talk to your florest, she will be very expereiced in matching flowers to the dress & will suggest all sorts of things you haven't even considered. You don't have to go with anything she recommends if you don't want to.

I was brought up to believe this too, it also goes for planting flowers in flower beds.

I think cream roses or white lillies would look lovely, but the florist would have great ideas, or your hairdresser, as they also get to see the flower colours for the hair!!

about the red and white flowers, i made the mistake of mixing them together when i was a student nurse, the sister couldnt get them out of the ward quick enough ever since i have never done that

My bridesmaids were in gold. We all had sunflowers with tiny pink and white rosebuds in the bunch. I'm having trouble accessing my photos at the moment, but if you think you might like them, I'll see what I can dig up to show you.

Hmm, difficult....I really like the idea of burgundy roses, but then if your bodice is also burgundy, your flowers won't stand out enough to be seen maybe.

I'd go personally for something simple, like cream coloured roses or calla lilies with something a bit unusual thrown in (cream coloured stocks or lupins? not very good with flowers!! ) and with plenty of interesting greenery to look at, that would go with both the gold and the burgundy.

You could then maybe pick out the burgundy accent colour with a burgundy ribbon so it would show up against your skirt? And perhaps, if you had a ruby (or pretend ruby , or any stone of that colour, like garnets) bracelet on, that would be seen against your flowers because obviously it's close to your hand which is holding the flowers and again pick up your accent colour without having to mix red and white flowers?

cos i wouldnt put red & white with burgundy and gold anyway
