this gave me something to think about really, as my money is fortnightly and at the moment my current budget only allows for about £10 shopping per week (if that depending how much petrol i need to put in)

but if my budget stretched to £20 per week (this is for 1 person as I don't live with anyone) this is what I would get...........

weight watchers bread malted danish loaf (Asda) x 1 @ £0.69
    semi-skimmed milk (2 pints) (Asda) x 2 @ £0.86
    bag of gala apples (10 pack) (Asda) x 1 @ £1.67
    bag of smart price bananas (1.5kg bag) (Asda) x 1 @ £1.26
    curly lettuce (Asda) x 2 @ £0.68
    salad tomatoes (6 pack) (Asda) x 1 @ £0.88
    cherry tomatoes (400g pack) (Asda) x 1 @ £0.98
    cucumber portion (Asda) x 2 @ £0.35
    celery (whole) (Asda) x 1 @ £0.78
    rice crispies (Asda) x 1 @ £2.00
    smart price water (2 litre) (Asda) x 8 @ £0.13
    smart price lemonade (2 litre) (Asda) x 8 @ £0.39
    asda sensetive washing tablets (36 tablets) (Asda) x 1 @ £2.68
    comfort concentrated sunfresh clothes softener (750ml) (Asda) x 1 @ £1.48
    pork chops (2 pack) (rough price) (Asda) x 2 @ £1.50
    asda tea cakes (4 pack) (Asda) x 2 @ £0.58
asda swiss roll (raspberry or chocolate and vanilla) (Asda) x 2 @ £0.39
    cooked ham (large pack) (Iceland) x 2 @ £2.00
    mild cheddar cheese (Iceland) x 1 @ £1.00
toilet rolls (4 pack) (not the very cheapest) (Iceland) x 2 @ £1.50
    corn on the cob (5 pack) (2 for £1.50) (Iceland) x 2 @ £0.75
    iceland mixed vegatables (Iceland) x 2 @ £0.86
fish in butter or parsley sauce (4 pack) (Iceland) x 2 @ £1.50
    all for a total of.......................................£39.52

leaving 48p for either slight price changes or for something to eat in the car afterwards

also this doesn't include the things I would buy every now and then such as kitchen wipes, shampoo, conditioner etc.

would be great if I could buy this every fortnight but the way things are at the moment theres no chance unless I miss 1 or 2 small bills for the month

If you go to the cheese counter you can get them to cut you any size cheese you want. They have the prices per kg and per 100g. So if it's marked as 62p per 100g then you can just ask for 100g's worth and voila.

I tend to find it's cheaper than the stuff in the 'main shop' bit.

I usually do have that amount or less to spend for the week.

    I rely on:

    Porridge
    Pasta

Reduced items with yellow stickers, either because they're in a bent tin or because they're near their expiry date.

Special offers, eg BOGOFs, 1/2 price etc.

I'm flexible in what I eat/buy; it all depends on what's cheapest. I also have a slow cooker so I make larger quantities of food which means I can get 4 meals in one go, often for about £5 overall.

If you can don't do your whole shop in one place. Take advantage of specials like the ones at Aldi where 6 of their fruit & veg are priced at 49p this month.

Yes, I second that. Aldi does some really really good quality fruit and veg. I also go to a market stall for some of my fruit and veg. Then again, I did manage to get 5kg of potatoes for 10p at Tesco once so....
