New Fixed Rate Deals for Abbey Existing Mortgage Customers

Hi, all

I would appreciate if you could share your experience in getting new fixed rate deal from Abbey for existing customers in last few days. I called them few weeks ago and I was offered:

3 years fixed @ 4.99%
5 years fixed @ 5.49%

Thanks.

I haven't called them for a couple of weeks and I assume the rates have gone up since then.
What is your LTV? And how much their fee?

    Thanks.

Why don't you just ring them and ask what they currently have on offer for you?

    Me?
I will do when we think more seriously about remortgaging.
I thought the LTV and fee might be useful for people so they can compare any offer they have.

    Thanks.

No, I meant the OP. I don't understand why they don't just phone up and get accurate information from 'the horse's mouth.

Well, I misread their original post and thought it was the new rate anyway. Now I see what you mean!

Thanks for All of you who replied here. Has anyone called Abbey this week for their latest fixed rates deals. also is this possible to get an offer with six months validity? I wonder if there is any impact of nationwide 125% mortgage offer

When you call retentions, before getting through to an operator the recording tells you when rates last changed, so you can easily make a 30 second call to find out if the rates you were quoted are still correct. I don't think you can get a retention rate 6 months in advance, but it comes close (the exact time varies). There won't be any impact from Nationwide's 125% as that's a specific product for existing customers in negative equity looking to downsize, whereas for a retention the LTV is based on the original valuation so negative equity could not apply.

You mean to say that Abbey has preferential mortgage deals in place for existing customers only? If you can find one with them which beats all others in the marketplace and one that you regard is best for your circumstances, stay with the Abbey and allow them to acknowledge your loyalty.

I couldn't say if Abbey's selection of products would be the best choice for you, but if there is a deal on the table which is better than what they would offer to new customers, then you know that Abbey values your custom, and is prepared to look after you and reward you for your loyalty.

Be unafraid to haggle on mortgage arrangement fees!

Our existing mortgage is with Abbey, we have decided to stay with them on their 2yr fix of 3.45%, no valuation fee, £250 cashback and £495 arrangement fee, we were offered this just over a week ago. hth.

(Meant to add, we were also offered the ones you have put in your first post.)
