Any other tall brides???

I'm getting married next May and haven't started looking at wedding dresses yet. Not sure how hard a job it is going to be due to my height - i'm 6' :D I can't afford to spend alot but am not sure how easy it is to walk in off the street and find a dress that fits. I know obviously the best thing is to make a start but just wanted to know if anyone else is in the same position  Oh and if you know where you can get nice shoes in a size 9 that aren't super wide i'd be very grateful too, lol.

I am 5ft9 and had the same fears as you as I normally have a lot of trouble finding anything to fit (legs too long for normal tall size but too short for tall range!). All the dresses I tried on were either just right or too long for me. You can request extra length on many dresses when you order. Have fun!
Try the rainbow club or Pink Paradox range for shoes- I know that some of their styles (including kitten heels) can be ordered in a size 9.

word of advice with shoes...you wont need fancy ones - no one will see them under the dress, so go for comfort over style, especially as you'll be wearing them all day :).

I am 5ft 8 and am going for my first dress shop this weekend, even thought I will prob end up buying from Landy.
So do you think Landy might be an option for you as the dresses are made to your measurements???

I'm a tall bride and got my dress from Landy (is a slim straight, Jenny packham style, with small train). The length is perfect - I got measured by a dressmaker beforehand though, just to be on the safe side, but Landy got it spot on.

    Hels

    Hi.

I'm a 6ft bride too and it does have it's uses believe it or not! I managed to get my dress in the sale from a normal bridal wear shop (£800 down to £300) and the length is perfect, so doesn't need altering. To be honest I found this with all the dresses I tried on.

I have got 3 bridesmaids ranging from 5ft 11ins to 6ft 2ins (my little sister!!!!!), and had to get the bridesmaids dresses with extra length, but the shop ordered it at no extra cost!

    Hope this helps x

Thanks so much katyw, that's a great help. My bridesmaids are also tall, the tallest being just over 6' . I think i'm going to go and see what the local shops have on offer, i'm very wary of buying online without trying as i'd never know exactly what size to buy with normal clothes let alone a wedding dress and am also not sure what style i want until i try some on :-)

I'm 6 foot too, and have found that most dresses are quite long, which is a relief as I thought it would be a nightmare trying them on. I don;t think any one I tried on was too short, and had a good few inches on the bottom even when I was stood on the box. I'm a size 9 too feet-wise, and am just keeping my eyes peeled in Brantano as they are quite cheap - although I did see a lovely pair of white trainers with red flowers on in there which I quite fancied - nice and comfy for the drunken dancing!
