Cheapest spectacles including Varifocals

Options
I was recently quoted a price in excess of £400 on the high street for titanium "memory" varifocals.
The cheapest UK web site did not cater for varifocals but I tried https://www.39dollarglasses.com and managed to get them for £110. A significant saving. Apart from being cheap in the first place, you also benefit from the current $ to £ exchange rate All you have to do is send them a copy of your prescription (£5 from specsavers). The glasses are made in the USA and posted to your home. It seemed like a bit of a risk but the system worked perfectly. There was nothing to pay on delivery (I think spectacles are VAT free). They make any type of precription glasses and also have a link to a similar site for contact lenses. Recommended

I can also recommend optical4less.com (based in Hong Kong). Ordered a pair of single vision glasses for the princely sum of £19.85 and they are superb. Sort of style and quality you'd expect to pay about £100 on the UK high street.

  • Ordering single vision specs is fairly straight forward but varifocals HAVE to be measured with the patient wearing the frame, other wise they are just guessing. If you are happy with someone guessing this thats fine-if you want send me £2.00 and I can guess your prescription for you, like your specs they wont be right but you would saved money.

  • I have just bought two pairs of varifocals from specsavers for £240 withtheir bogof offer. Main pair are designer frames (Hugo Boss) and also photochromic. The offer wasn't advertised but by asking for it in store they were able to honour it. Alternatively I could have had just one pair with 25% off from their £95 range (+cost of lenses).

If, like me, you need two pairs of glasses then this is quite a good offer, and as stated above, they really need fitting correctly.
