right well that didnt work out too good ...i went to the shop and bought one loaf of bread £1.75 one onion 24p mixed peppers £1.23 mushrooms 39p for four (that aint cheap) one tofu pack £1.58 and six corn on the cobs £2 got them cause they were on buy two get one free ...so have spent £7.19 in food today ...this isnt going according to plan peeps ...ok i will have enough to do me two days for dinner with the scrambled tofu ...maybe i should try and get a lunch as well and the corn on the cob is for lunch two at a time ...and one dinner but that's just me hubby has to get fed as well ...

mmmm this isnt going to be easy is it

Well that loaf of bread - I can see you dont have time to make a loaf from scratch - I dont know whether maybe it mightnt take TOO long to make one from a bread mix? Anyways - the large loaf of wholemeal bread from Sainsburys(non-organic - as theyd run out of mine:cool:) was £1 - cheaper than £1.75 anyway.....

hello, just a quickie but I wouldn't bother buying a dolmio sauce for your spag bol, we just use a tin of chopped tomatoes, some tom puree, some chopped peppers & onions, grated carrot (pads it out and increase the veg portions) and then I usually stick of couple of lamb oxo cubes as well. I usually then half the mixture and stick some sweetcorn in one half and in the other a can of kidney beans & some chilli. Hubby loves spicy so he has the chilli & I have the spag bol. HTH

i tried something like this before but hubby really didnt like it ...that was years ago though and tastes change ...i mean he even ate a tomato the other week ...thought he was going to pass out lol ...i told him i am doing a batch cook at the weekend for spag bog so will tell him i am trying another way of cooking it see what he says lol

    thanks

again snobby ness i think on our parts (but that is going to have to change ...most deff) ...hubby will only have warburtons blue label for white bread (unless its toast then its mothers pride plain or pan i never can remember which ) and hovis seeded batch or burgen for whole meal ...i only eat whole meal (i do try to be healthy as much as i can)

i did have a bread maker before but it didnt work out financially viable for us ...i think i will bring it back into play in a few weeks/months time though if i can make some changes between now and then ...and he accepts them then i am half way there

well you will probably find that the fresh orange juice has to go,lidl do a nice one,I think aldi do also.
don't go for the value supermarket ones as they are quite poor.
toast....well thats the bread again, does your breadmaker have an timer function? you really would save a lot of money(I use value flour and it comes in at around 25p a loaf)
what type of cereals do you eat? some own brand ones are o.k.
things like museli it's possible to buy a luxury one and pad it out a bit with extra rolled oats.

Spent €75.48 yesterday in Lidl, will need potatoes, cat food, milk , ice-cream and bread to-morrow, if not some other things...cat food is v expensive but lasts for ages, so will divide cost in half as won't have to buy any next month...not sure that I am doing as well as I thought....

and if i go buy dolmio

Seriously hun, Dolmio is well expensive. £2 odd I think. And once you've made your own you won't go back. I used up an old jar and it's so sweet it's horrible. _pale_

2 tins of chopped tomatoes (25p a tin odd), bit of basil out of the jar, salt, pepper, juice of a lemon, splash of tomatoe puree and (I'll probably get slated for this) I like to put Bisto beef granules in. Tastes pukka for probably a quid tops. :T

I eat Burgen and it's much cheaper in Asda (about £1.25 max). If you have a Farmstores they do orange juice at 2 for £1. I dilute mine as I like a large glass but not the large calorie intake! I know what people are saying about Dolmio but Asda do a cheap bolognese sauce (SP) which might suit ( I'd still add the carrots, onions etc) as I haven't seen any tomatoes recently for less than about 34p a tin.

    Good luck!
