notice of correction - worthwhile?

Hi, I have posted before but here's a quick summary of my situation.

£56k deposit on a £130k house. Income £38k.
However, nasty 5 year old £450 ccj. Settled early last year. Missed mortgage payments from same period. I work away from home and the aforementioned was due to the deviousness/daftness of my ex.

This seems to preclude me from the better mortgage deals on the market. I am off to see a broker next week. Anyway the question is about "Notices of Correction". Are they are a benefit? Any tips on the way to word them?

Any advice much appreciated.
Hugs and kisses,
Gemma Sue

  • What would your notice of correction say? If the CCJ was correctly put on your file then there would be no reason for correction?

A notice of correction isn't necessarily there to dispute the validity of a credit record entry but to add details such at mitigating circumstances at the time and to get the credit/mortgage companies reading your file manually rather than accepting the default answer. From what I understand it might not necessarily help but it certainly won't hurt.
I'm trying to sort out a default notice for £150 on my credit record from 3 years ago which I cleared last year and it's looking like I may need to go down the notice of correction route.
It's so frustrating because it's the only blip on my credit history and was genuinely down to an oversight during the breakup of a 10 year relationship and I cleared it in full as soon as I realised my mistake.
I too would be interested to hear of any success stories relating to a notice of correction.
