anyone been? i went today,i was astonished at the admission fees, £22 for adults,£17 for OAP'S and £5 to park (kids went free with paying adult).
considering the whole show is based around folk selling you things and advertising, then i thought the prices were far too steep, considering how much it must cost to put even a small burger van there for the 4 days never mind one of the larger stalls.
i did enjoy the day and the few things that were going on were fun to watch but not anywhere near worth £22 entry fee each, it was £50 before we even had anything to eat or drink, then there was the usual £5 burger and £2 bottle of juice. the only thing i thought was a bargain was the cheese at the scottish pride stall, free cheese toasted sandwiches and £1 for a big block of cheese with free loafs of kingsmill.

Hi! Yeah I went on Friday. Had a great time, but as you say it is rather expensive for admission. I've been going for years but this is the first time I've had to pay as adult (always had a student card before) so I got quite a shock. However I love watching the animal judging and coming from a farming background really enjoy the show and couldn't ever miss it.
I have to say I did get my fair share of freebies though........you do have to make up that £22 entrance fee! I only ever buy breakfast then "graze" for the rest of the day!!!0 -
We felt the same about the cost, being well overpriced to get then to be faced with a lot of shop type stalls and not coming from a farming background i couldnt really appreciate it properly, the highlight for us ,was the mackies ice cream van.0

i dont come from a farming background either but did enjoy watching a lot of the displays and the sheep shearing competitions. but i could only compare it with being charged to get into a shopping centre it was mostly aimed at selling and advertising....work permit granted!0

I went on the Saturday and really enjoyed it, but yes it is pretty expensive to get in. My mum and I always go round the food hall at least twice to get as much free food as possible!0

Hi we went and had a lovely day, yes parking and entry had to be paid but as the kids got in free and we took a picnic it wasn't as expensive as many other places and you could be there from early morning to late evening, well worth a look for children to see and experience lots of new things (we looked at every chicken and horse possible). I got a good deal plus free delivery on a garden bench which saved £45 on delivery so it paid for the day.Freebie Manor was the name on the Plaque my mum gave me for first home which was equiped with freebie banded cups, teapot, coffee pot oh and a sofa which cost a bottle of Vodka. My motto's are don't ask dont get, and don't buy if they say no.0
