I think your OH needs to be realistic about his options. I thought your comment about needing a tumble dryer was strange - you are better off without one as they guzzle electricity, better to save for something useful rather than a tumbledryer.

aww, im not sure why i put the tumbledryer in, just feels like that was our biggest expense when we got married (we didn't live together beforehand). we weren't able to dry our clothes in our tiny little 1 bed flat properly. our bills are included in our rent fortunately and it's a condenser if that makes it better? i know, we'll be in for a shock when we have to pay bills.

going to bed now to prepare for a first day at work that im now dreading after 4 weeks doing nothing and looking forward to it. I'm scared there'll be some sort of abuse on this when i next dare to look so before the flood comes, thanks for all the responses so far.
