JML Clothes dryer - any good?

I have seen one of these on offer in Makro. I would dearly love one, and it may mean I can get a washer rather than a washer dryer which would be not only cheaper but likely to last longer.

But I don't want to buy a pig in a poke. When it is summer and the building works are not so vigorous I can line dry, and I do have an airer, but winter is a bit challenging.

Also summer when it is raining and you cannot bear the heating on, drying is also difficult.

Any advice very much appreciated.

It does sound really promising, I am wondering whether I could manage a king sized duvet cover over it (:o I like to wash my bedding regularly).

Also little one's clothes - I seem to always have a mountain of these!

Thank you for the links - it is a great start to the research. I always start here because people know so much.

Also at Makro from Weds it will be £39.99 (plus vat of course) which seems reasonable.

Sybil, maybe if you folded the duvet cover or sheets in 4 lengthways and then dried it a bit....then ironed (sorry I'm sad) it...it could go back in to air off.

At my Makro, they usually have that sort of thing on display, so you can have a poke around.
Maybe take the measurements of a folded sheet/duvet cover with you along with a tape ;)

Someones review here says things have to be on hangers so think duvet covers would be a struggle

I've got the Tornado make of this and I have to say I love it! Due to lack of space, the only place for it is in my bedroom, and I have to say I don't regret it either.

It not only dries your washing, it makes your room smell all washingy (It's a real word- honest!) and also heats the room into the bargain.

It wouldn't dry a duvet though as someone requested, as your washing needs to be on hangers, and the the weight alone would be a real problem for it.

A friend of mine had one of these and passed it on not long after....it wasn't as economical or handy as she thought, took a lot of time in loading, turning, sorting, re-turning items.

I find that by washing on days I know I can get items dry, being picky about what gets washed so often and by rigging up a makeshift line across my utility room (string tied around some hooks) that I get most stuff dried over night without heating.....bannisters were made for duvet covers and bedding and if layed out before you go to bed, they won't be in the way.

A bit of planning could save you the running and purchase costs.

:o Sorry for the delay in getting back to you all about this - I really appreciate your thoughts and it has certainly helped.

At the moment line drying not only depends on rain but also on building work. The building a few yards away is getting renovated and dust has been an issue. Also my road is not covered in tarmac, it is mud, but this is large deflected by plants. I plan to stuff as many items as I can on the line tomorrow and keep everything crossed!

The only things I currently tumble dry are duvet covers, sheets and socks. All other things go on either hangers or the airer near the dehumidifier.

Thinking about all your suggestions I am sure I can manage without the tumble dryer and without the gadget. I am ashamed but I think I just saw 'gadget going cheap' and got a little carried away.

Thank goodness for MSE. I have no idea what I would do without you. Thank you again.
