MAIP but seen a better deal - can we apply for a different mortgage?

C&G have agreed a mortgage in principal for us. This is not linked to a specific house at the moment as we are still waiting to find our 'dream' but wanted to check we could actually get a mortgage in the current climate. We tried with C&G first as they were our previous providers before we sold and moved into a rented property. However, we've recently seen a much better deal with RBS. Can we apply to them for a MIP too or is this not allowed?

This will mean another credit search !
Why not wait until you find the property you want then you will know how much you want to borrow and using " whatsthecost" you can work out the cost each month for different deals.0
