cleaning kitchen cupboards

What can i use to clean the front of my kitchen cupboards? They're oak, and i wasn't sure whether to use vinegar on them cos i was worried it'd take the varnish off. Any ideas? :rolleyes:

i just cleaned mine today having just finished redecorating. Mine are varnished wood.

i used sugar soap solution first followed by stardrops in warm water and they look great.

Wouldn't think that vinegar would do that, but someone with more knowledge will be along soon to let you know. I just cleaned kitchen on Sunday using mixture of vinegar, water, fairy liquid and surgical spirits (that combo really gets rid of the grease, and normally I use that for doing mirrors, windows and cooker and upvc window & door frames) - was only going to clean the cooker, but got carried away, and forgot to change the spray bottle over. Anyway, it worked just great. My cupboard fronts are some kind of laminate, edgings are a dark brown wood, and the worktops are beech, and no ill effects whatsoever, and no removal of any varnish. Of course, did use microfibre cloth too.
