Tell him about old BMWs. Excellent cars. Cheap and a lot of fun.Happy chappy0

He does love BMWs he has had 2 E320i. One was a convertable which was his biggest project. He had a full body kit out on it, lowered etc. I prefered it in it's original state but he loved it.Look atfer the Pennies and the ££££'s will care for themselves :money:0

I used to be involved with burning money on cars. Now I enjoy the pleasures of "easy on the mind" car projects. Smile and save and still enjoy the driving part.Happy chappy0

It's not just about the car.
Yes he did sell it because we needed the money at the time, and yes it did help in the short term to pay mortgage etc but it didn't help get us out of debt.
Not sure if you read all of the posting but cars were his life before He met me and he is a changed man now, since we have been in difficulty he has lost touch with friends who he used to be involved with via the cars, it was his whole way of life, how I met him etc etc.
Yes it may sound pathetic to you, but to us it has had a bad effect on our lives, and has probably cost us more than if we had kept it, as we bought bangers in replace to get us from a to b but they all only lasted 6-8 months before needing extensive repairs (more than the cars are worth, so they were scrapped and we moved on to the next banger)Look atfer the Pennies and the ££££'s will care for themselves :money:0 -
Gibboking, I understand where you're coming from totally.
I have no problem admitting that my car is "my second baby". I have a large circle of friends through car clubs, etc and before my child was born it was the largest part of my social life.
Yes, to some it's just a "thing on 4 wheels that gets you from a to b", to others it's alot more than that - I love driving (sensiblyand I am passionate about cars.
Each to their own I'd say. It'd be boring if we were all the same. However, I have managed to combine 2 yr servicing intervals, 40mpg mixed driving, cheap insurance with having a fun car to drive at the same time.Back on the DFW Wagon:

I met a lot of genuine friends via a car club and then renting a workshop together. Nowadays I regard a car as a glorified washing machine, but it still has to give me driving entertainment.Happy chappy0

Aww ((hugs)) moxie. Hope the lump goes soon.
Lone Ranger - No offence taken. I've made some close friends - I know what you mean about acquaintances - and there are plenty of those too! I've got the car that I want...no desire for anything else and it goes full circle to partly why I wouldn't want to part with it. Different priorities with a child too, so once the debt is gone, it's further saving for his future (he's got a good start with £2K under his belt and a bond that matures in 11 yrs time) alongside getting rid of the mortgage (6 years left on 1/3rd of it, 11 on the rest).
TS - Yes, it's the actual driving I get pleasure from too.Back on the DFW Wagon:
