Advice needed asap won tickets

I really need some advice i entered and won some tickets from lovefilm for the premiere of public enemies. I think i am unable to attend tho i was going to go, i asked family members if they would like to take my place and my sister inlaw said yes.

So i emaild lovefilm to say i think i am unable to attend as i cant get a baby sitter. So could i please pass them to a family member.

I was told that i am not allowed and if i cannot go i must tell them so they can give my tickets away. Don't get me wrong i don't want anyone to miss out but in fairness i won them there mine i should be able to do what i wish with them.

i was then told
we’d have to offer your tickets to another LOVEFiLM member, as this is a LOVEFiLM members screening

I have checked the site and there are no terms and conditions and it did not ask me to log in to enter UNLIKE THE OTHER COMPS. It simply said to enter email xxxx with your name and address.

I feel somthing is very wrong, that the comp was open to all ? but they was only giving tickets to members ?. So surely this is illegal giving priority to there own members then anyone who enters.

here is a link could someone tell me where i stand. i don't see why as a member of love film and winner of a comp i or my family should lose out because i can't make it.

just give your relation the tickets and a bill of yours {providing you trust them}and then it will be ok

Competition Terms and Conditions

1.These terms and conditions (“Terms”) apply to all Competitions on the LOVEFiLM.com website, unless otherwise indicated. Any additional terms specific to a particular Competition will be displayed on page for a specific competition and will be incorporated in these Terms. By entering a Competition, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms.
2.All Competitions are organized by Lovefilm UK Limited of No. 9, 6 Portal Way, London W3 6RU ("LOVEFiLM").
3.Competitions are only available to LOVEFiLM members who are UK residents and are not available to employees or contractors of LOVEFiLM or any person directly or indirectly involved in the organisation or running of a Competition, or their families. Persons resident in a country or jurisdiction outside the UK where a Competition may breach any law or regulation may not enter. One entry per LOVEFiLM member per Competition.
4.To enter a Competition, you must answer the question shown on the Competition page on or before the stated closing date.
5.For each Competition, a winner will be chosen at random from all correct answers from qualifying entrants and will be notified by email within 30 days of the closing date. Within 6 weeks of that notification, the prize will be posted to the winner at the postal address on their LOVEFiLM account on the date of posting. If the winner does not have a LOVEFiLM account, the prize will be posted within 6 weeks of notifying LOVEFiLM of a UK postal address. Prizes can be posted to UK addresses only. Details of winners will be available from LOVEFiLM within 14 days after each closing date by emailing [EMAIL="competitions@lovefilm.com"]competitions@lovefilm.com[/EMAIL].
6.The prize will be as shown on the Competition page. The prize is non-transferable and there will be no cash alternatives. LOVEFiLM reserves the right to alter the advertised prize in circumstances out of our control but the alternative prize will be of an equal or greater value.
7.LOVEFiLM does not accept responsibility for late, lost, damaged or corrupted entries.
8.Proof of sending is not proof of receipt by LOVEFiLM. Proof of posting or emailing cannot be accepted as proof of delivery. LOVEFiLM cannot accept responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft, destruction, alteration of or unauthorised access to entries, or entries lost, damaged or delayed as a result of server functions, technical issues, virus, bugs or other causes outside LOVEFiLM’s control.
9.LOVEFiLM reserves the right to cancel or amend any Competition or the Terms without notice in the event of any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside LOVEFiLM's reasonable control. Any changes will be posted within these Terms and/or on the applicable Competition page(s). If there is any dispute regarding the Terms, conduct, results and all other matters relating to a Competition, the decision of LOVEFiLM shall be final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.


These are there general terms and conditions from another competition. They are allowed to state non-transferable and this will vary from competition to competition.


I am not a lovefilm subscriber but am a member on website and sign in to enter competitions which is free to do!

thanks for the posts.

couple of things i need to clear up.
When i entered the comp it did not say i had to log in or be a member of lovefilm..

It said to enter i had to email the address with my name and contact details. From the way it looked any person could enter the comp and that it was open to all ?.

It looks to me as if anyperson can enter but only lovefilm members would win.

there other comps say please log in to enter. this did not say that anywhere

I had a similar prob> Had complimentry tickets to Royal ascot and wanted to pass them on, ended up going and had a great time.
You should not have emailed them and now that you have you should retract and tell them you will be going.. And follow Bella165 advice and give a utility bill or something like that to your sister in law. My experience at Royal Ascot was that they didnt care or enquire as to who i was. So i could have passed tickets onand they would not have been questioned.

the prob is there will be love film staff there, i think they will make sure to check mine as ive emaild asking.
