Barclays and Savings??

I want to open a monthly savings account and Barclays are offering the best interest for my meagre amounts.

Anyway, I have just spoken to their live chat service as you cannot apply online only in branch - and I would not want to be embarrassed if they refused due to a credit check.

The live chat tells me that a credit check is not usually done but an identity check is. Has anyone had any problems with opening a Barclays savings account as a non-customer? (I did owe Barclaycard......)

I have to say they are bad enough to get there cash card account which they say you can have as a BR let along a savings account with them.

Have you not thought about Yorkshire Building Society (ybs.co.uk) as they are BR friendly ok the rate might not be as great as Barclays but worth looking at and you can also apply online i got accepted straight away and got the card within 2 days.

Plus YBS is a pure building society still so i feel warm and fuzzy having my little savings with them.
