oh and thx all for response kinda different when it hits a friend. I guess everyone knows someone who has bee silly with money.0

I'd push them towards the Dealing with Debt board on fool.co.uk. It's less (((hugggz))) than over here but also very practical and analytical. If they can cope with that sort of thing then it is very excellent. If they can post an SOA then good ideas will be put forward, you can be sure of that.0

definitely get them to speak to the CAB or CCCS.plus ça change........0

Whilst you want to be nice to them, this is not the answer. It just allows another company to make money out of their misery. There are lots of problems with this, one of them being that you end up with an AST at the market rent and the company probably has a mortgage on your home... it gets repossessed and you get made homeless...
I would rather sell for 80% value and move into rented.
On the other hand, is it really that bad for them? Sounds like they should have sufficient funds but like you say, not very savvy.
The SOA is a brilliant idea. They are really good with advice. They do need to get onto this site and find out a) that they are not the only ones b) they are not in the worst position in the world c) other people have got themselves out of biger messes and are now on their way to becoming mortgage free d) that there are lots of great ideas out there as to how to do this and if one doesn't suit, another will.
Best of luck in breaking this to them gently, but they do need the LBM.0 -
I hear this phrase on this forum so many times: "Im not very good with money, or I'm not very savvy with money"
Can someone please explain to me what it means, cos I dont get it. Surely what they really mean is that I'm too lazy to think about it, and I want it all now and I deserve it cos i'm special and if I don't get it, I'll scream and scream until I'm sick?
Here's the only financial advice anyone will ever need. Dont spend more than you earn, and you'll be fine. There - that's all you need to know about money.
Wasnt that hard, was it?
I can't believe dunstonh gets paid a fortune for this nonsense.0 -

It is the generous sympathy and heartwarming empathy of this poster (and Donaldtramp) for people with little money or prospects which makes me glad we live in a welfare state and have trade unions. I welcome the prospect of the state taxing them a little more. I can see no justification for anyone thinking they are somehow intrinsically above anyone else in society, we don't need a class system on any basis whatsoever, and least of all money.0 -

You want to get rid of money? What would you replace it with?0
