Bankruptcy & new bank accounts?

Hi there.
I went bankrupt in August 2007 when my child was taken ill & I had to give up work, I was discharged early 2008. I've not done anything since then about getting a bank account but figure it's about time I start to build up my credit rating etc.... so that in the future my husband & I can try to get a mortgage (living in rented with two babies & constantly having to move because of landlords getting into debt is really getting us down - not to mention disrupting our kids). Can anyone recommend what steps I should be taking? Which banks will take me?
Thanks everso.

No point doing anything else untill that is done.
In the presant climate getting a mortgage is hard for anyone without a deposit.
If you could raise say 5-10% it would help, not sure how much thoughThats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all ………….

Thanks Blind-as-a-bat. I'll take a look at that link and see where to go from there. :kisses3::A Recovering Spendaholic :AI wish the buck stopped here. I could use a few.
