What about the Tesco BOGOF vouchers they were giving out not so long ago.

  • Hi all

If you ring up to book a room at the Alton Towers Hotel or Splash Landings then quote "lifestyle" to receive a significant saving of around £120 per night.

    Hi Guys,

I'm after a bit of advice really with regard to buying a Merlin Card & the discounts & offers that there are. I've got 2 kids with merlin cards that run out in the middle of October. I am wondering what is the best way (i.e. cheapest) way to re-new them.

Just for info, both the cards are "disabled" merlin cards & you get a free carer card to be used in conjunction with the disabled card. I need to purchase 2 merlin cards (and i'll get 2 carer cards with them as both kids have disabilities).

I paid full whack last year for them & we have had our moneys worth but I'm still keen to get the best deal. The offers I have found are:

    • £100 each for a renewal Merlin card (if you renew within 8 weeks of your card running out)
    • £37.50 in tesco clubcard points/pounds (but can you get the free carer cards too?)
Does anyone know of any other offers or way of getting cheap merlin cards. We usually go to legoland, but more often alton towers. We can't stick with the 2-for-1 offer 'cos they often have terms & condition which state one must be a full paying adult (and we pay for a child with an adult carer going free).

I seem to remember a newsletter last year offering some discounts around the end of season if you bought lego in the lego shop at legoland (was it just an annual pass just for legoland?) anyone remember?

I seem to remember someone on MSE saying that if your merlin card runs out, wait & they send you promotional offer a few weeks after it runs out. Do you get a renewal card for cheaper than £100 if you wait? Anyone know?

Any help or advice greatly received.

    Hi Zziggi

We have the same dilemma as my son's pass expires during this month. But to be honest I will probably wait until Spring to renew his - unless I receive a great offer through the post or email of course!!!! I'll let you know if I do..

I've been told by Chessington that if I want to purchase my son (+ free carer) a pass then I have to pay in full - ie cannot use Tesco Clubcard Merlin Voucher. When I queried why...? I was told that the vouchers reduced the pass price meaning that the only way that the adult could receive a pass was to use clubcard vouchers for their pass too!! I said that this seemed unfair as everyone else gets the benefit of 'cheap passes' but not disabled families. But they insisted that this was definitely the case and nothing could be done any different.

I know that Legolands own annual pass allows free carer and I believe that this can be purchased with Tesco Clubcard vouchers and still get free carer. It seems that Legoland customer service is better than the other parks, so perhaps it may be worthwhile contacting Legoland to find out from them if Tesco clubcard vouchers can be used there for Merlin pass, and obtain a free carer or maybe there's a way of getting Legoland Annual passes then upgrading them to Merlin Passes.

Also, you mention the end of season annual pass discounts - yes this is just for legoland. But you may be able to upgrade these passes to Merlin passes...?

    Hope this helps..
  • Go to last minute.com for cheap bookings...

    I just got quoted £75 b&b
family of 4 staying in the alton towers hotel
(not in the cheaper splash landings hotel next door)

UNFORTUNATLY.... You can`t get this deal on a sat. night
