Hi guys, new to the forum. Hope this is the right place for this, figured it was to do with employment.
Has anyone ever worked for magnum direct ltd? Applied for a job as a door to door fundraiser but the 750-1000 a week they're offering it seems ridiculous!! Their website and the job description doesn't give much away, I'm just wondering if anyone knew of any catch
Thanks

Sounds like commission-based door-to-door selling"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
-
What does that involve? Will there be a base rate of pay or is it purely commission? Excuse the ignorance0

If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.0

You can earn £750-£1000 as long as everyone you speak to signs up and you are prepared to work 168 hours per week. Oh and it's commission only...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

You did the right thing in coming onto MSE and asking for some information and opinions. There seems to be something like this every week if not day! There is always a huge catch in what is being offered.
It is one of the oldest tricks in the book: by mentioning large sums of money they hope that your judgement and common sense will fly out of the window.
Door to door salesmen are a pain, and seem out of place in the 21st century. You mention fundraising not sales: some charities do use agencies that send people house to house trying to sign people up for direct debits. In both cases, it seems that a certain amount of manipulation is used: could you live with yourself?
I believe that "no-salesmen zone" notices are going up in areas where people have had enough.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

From looking at the website, it looks like it will be promoting a charity lottery for the British Legion. I will speak to them tonight though so will be a lot clearer after. Thanks for the advice0

Hi All
I use to work for this company and you are right it is a commissioned role but the earnings are realistic.
One thing that I can say is if they said they were going to pay x that is what you will get no cathes. They also have a strong recruitment structure in place which they use to only take people on that will earn money and reject people that will not otherwise it is a waste of time for both parties and will not achieve anything!!!
Its a shame that when I moved house they did not have any roles in my new area as I was making on average £700 per week plus other incentives.
I have previously worked for two other companies similar to them and made nothing just was fed a buch of lies. I won't mention who they are as its a little unprofessional but most of you will probably know the ones I am talking about.....
Anyway I do reccomend meeting this company even if you are unsure maybe see if you can do a couple of days trial...
Good Luck if you do go for them!!!

Still working here.
Had my ups and downs but more ups.
Hard work not going to lie but I always feel I have achieved.
Interesting 7 posts, all saying how wonderful life it at this company - one would almost think that they were paying you to spam every forum that mentions their name. Is that part of your job description.
Also strange that here you use to work for them, but 3 years later you are still there.
As you appear to be anunauthorised company representative I've reported your posts to let the Forum Team decide on you.0
