CSA sent assessment out today.

Smug ex has decided he is only paying a few quid as the assessment goes from today. Although the CSA were first contacted weeks back?

Why is he only having to pay from today, and not all the weeks previous?

Have told him in no uncertain terms what I think of him and am furious as I have been giving him money so he can see his kids :mad::mad::mad:

The assessment should be from the date the MEF was issued to him.

Does he have any other children that he pays for via the CSA?

If this is his first contact from the CSA, then yes, he will only be liable from when they first contact him.
If he's already paying for another child via the CSA, then I believe he may be liable from when you first contacted them as his will not be a new case.
    Perhaps someone could confirm this.

When there are two parents with care, the money will be due from the date the new assessment is calculated. It's not fair to the second parent with care, but that's the way it works.

No it's not fair, I am hoping we can sort something out because I am going to struggle this month on just my wage!

But then its not fair on the previous PWC with her money being reduced :(

Yep I had this with my ex and it really peed me off!! When I put in my claim, there were several errors and then they couldn't find him. So I turned "detective" and found his work details for them, duly rang them up and gave them the info. Shocked to discover that if there is already a case, there are no backdated arrears to the date of MEF, only to the date they calculate the assessment. I was really peed off about that because if I hadn't found him, she'd never have received a penny at all, neither of us would have. She was also receiving maintenence from the child's ex step father as part of a private agreement they had come to. She'd also just moved her boyfriend in and packed in her job. So in effect she was getting three lots of support. One from natural dad, one from ex step dad and one from her then live in lover.

However he then did a runner, which resulted in several no payments. Again I put my detective hat on, found him and they started deductions from his wages, only this time WITH arrears.

Seems that with a second family no arrears build up until the claim is calculated but after that any arrears are taken as usual.

It's not fair or reasonable as all cases should be treated the same. Why should my children deserve any less because they were his second family? But I appreciate legislation is legislation and it's set by the beggars at parlimentary level, not the poor sods that sit there working out the assessments and getting abuse from folks for their trouble.

Indeed, he is taking great pleasure in the fact that I am skint this month. But I will take great pleasure that at the end of July he will owe me £500. See how he likes being the one who is skint.
