I'm too old for this

I finally got around to uploading my camcorder stuff onto my computer using Nero Vision 5. :beer:So good so far.....

I tried burning the movie to a dvd, and have just sat here for over 1.5 hrs watching Nero do its stuff. When it finished I took the DVD out to play and it comes up with 'no data' [sigh]. Where am I going wrong?

I'm using Kodak DVD RW 4X speed 4.7GB capacity 120 mins video playing time - so why? WHY? Why hasn't anything recorded unto the disc?

Someone point me in the right direction please
:j I hope my comment helps :T

Has the disk been finalised? If not it is unlikely to play on a standard DVD player

    What does 'finalised' mean?

I tried playing it on my dvd player & my pc but nada.

I'm assuming the whole process was finished as when Nero ended the disc tray opened automatically.

When you burn to a DVD there is usually an option to finalise the disk. Not doing so will leave the disk "open" so it can take more files, but selecting the option "closes" the disk and makes it DVD player compatible.

I must just obviously be doing something wrong.

    Do you use Nero?

I really just want to get my movies onto dvd - surely it can't be this difficult?

The only option that came up was 'do you want to save this project' and that's after the disc tray opens! I've already saved the project by the way.

I used to use Nero but not any more.
Why not give AVI2DVD a try? It's free.

Does the stand-alone DVD player play DVD-/+RW media?

Play on a PC to ensure that the data is on the disc.

Stick to DVD-R or DVD+R media for that sort of thing.

Instead of asking us what you've done wrong, you should tell us what you have done, step by step.

    Hi Donnie (my superhero).

When I pop the dvd into my pc, normally it would just start playing straight away, but the one that I've used to record unto doen't.

I'm going to go through the process again tomorrow to see where I've gone wrong and I will tell you exactly what I do.

:confused:Still haven't got around to doing this yet!!!

I'll probably have another try at the weekend.

Thx Rich44. I was looking at some discs today in Tesco & was wondering what the -R and the +R meant - and which one I should buy:o

I'm going to try and record straight to disc using the dvds I have now, and see if that works (but not today:D)!
