Thanks for that Debt_Free_Chick!
We are definitely going down the CCCS route now, we have been in contact with one of the creditors (because their payment is now due again), and they were actually alright and said that they would discuss the reduced payment s with the cccs when they contacted them, it wasn’t the response we were expecting from them, but there you go.
Thanks again for all your help will keep you all informed as things develop.

Just wanted to say that you're doing the right thing getting_there. We're with the CCCS and our second payment is due this month. We were with a commercial debt management company before and thanks to info here we decided it would make more sense to use the CCCS, as all of our monthly payment would go to our creditors, rather than a portion being taken for the priviledge of managing our DMP. The swap to the CCCS has been pain free and we're very happy. The fact that you lose the ability to get credit is actually very beneficial as it curbs the possibility of falling into the same trap again, until you've learnt to deal with your finances properly.
We've gone through the 'cut up our cards' scenario several times in the past five years and you have to be extremely strong-willed to make it work - we weren't and I reckon it resulted in us almost doubling what we owed. Anyway, you're not alone in this, many of us are in the same situation and the help on the board is superb.
You've done the right thing, congratulations! He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0 -
