Yes, I put the money from the sale of the car under May as that was when it was banked but it hasn't carried it forward to June.

    Hi Lynsey,

Have you got May and June in two separate worksheets? I have a huge spreadsheet to log all my spends and can calculate how much money I have left from say food and it follows over into my next month.

Something like this =SUM(G17+A12)+'22 May - 24 Jun'!J18 (the second part being what I spent last month - this was what the worksheet was called) deducted from what I can spend this month i.e. £150 on food - £58.96 (overspent last month) leaves me £91.04 for this month! Not too great on forumlas but I managed to do this.

I think if you do your sum then click on the cell and enter it will pull the figure over. Sorry can't be of more help!

Right, I have tried to see if I can work out how to attach my spreadsheet and I have to say I'm just as confused with that as I am with how to work out my spreadsheet :rotfl:

Can anybody shed any light on how I attach documents?

It looks like you can put it on sendspace.com

You can browse to the file and then upload to their site, then paste the forum URL for others to be able to download it. Never used this site before and there may be others, but looks like it is okay.

I will see if I can explain myself a little better.

Below is an example of my ins and outs for May and June (not actual figures) and hopefully you will be able to see what I'm trying to ask.

    May

    Normal Incomings - £1,800.00
    Additional Incomings - £825.00
    Outgoings - £1,700.00
    Extra to debts - £925.00
Money transferred to debts - £125.00
    Money left over - £800.00

    June

    Normal Incomings - £1,800.00
    Outgoings - £1,700.00
    Extra to debts - £100.00
Money transferred to debts - £100.00
In theory money left over £800.00 carried over from May

I have formulas adding up the total money coming in and the total money going out and then a formula taking the outgoings away from the incomings. I need to set up a formula that will carry money forward on a month to month basis depending on how much I use of the extra money to pay off the debt.

Hope I've made it a little clearer. If not, I'm off now to see if I can attach my spreadsheet.

I think I may have sorted it out :j

I've probably done it the long way round but I don't care :rotfl:

    Thanks for everyone's help.

Glad you've got it working... cos i don't get that example.
You probably needed an IF formula in there or something.

In that May example, don't you get a -125 balance?
