Equifax missing details?
I recently recieved a letter from Rockwell Debt Collection Agency, saying that they'd been instructed by Phoenix Recoveries Ltd SARL to contact me regarding a debt of around £1400.
I don't know what this debt is, but also don't want to call them until I do know.
They've got my name slightly wrong on the letter also, I've definitely never had any debt in the name they have used.
I also have a debt that I'm currently paying off with the same company, and they have my correct name and details for that one.
I signed up with Equifax to get my Credit Report, and when I recieved it, I've noticed that neither of these two debts are on there.
Is this normal? I was under the impression, that Equifax held all my credit details, but the fact that these two debts aren't there is a little worrying.
How can I find out what this latest debt is without calling the company directly?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
All credit companies must provide you with all the information when seeking payment of an alleged debt, including amount, charges and company who they bought the debt from.
If it's over 6 years old, excluding tax debt it would be classed as statute barred (not sure of the exact term) but basically you can tell them to !!!!!! off or you will report them for harrassment.
Not experienced this myself, but they are a number of threads on the forum that maybe able to help you out. Some of these companies allegedly buy old debts on the cheap and try to scare people into paying, when by law they cannot.
