    Thanks again everyone.

PlayingHardball - yes, we did share household expenses pretty evenly.

As I said, I have no wish to avoid paying a fair amount, but it seems like my ex hasn't understood that she can't make me pay more than the CSA guidelines state. She was telling me the other night that her expenses "for putting a roof over our son's head" have to be taken into account - council tax, gas, electric etc - and she's still asking for a figure about 30% more than the CSA would assess.

On another topic - I used to play golf but haven't played for a long time so decided to sell my clubs to a friend. I had bought some stuff before and some during our time together. She asked me what I was doing and then told me that I should have told her because she was entitled to some of the money as they were assets bought during our relationship (unmarried, remember). Does that sound right?

Looks like I ought to go and spend some money with a solicitor

You have no legal obligation to pay anymore money than that the csa say. Be very careful sh doesn't become spiteful and start refusing contact. Although both issues are seperate she might just get angry enough when she realises that you don't owe her a living.

She is being ridiculous - just ignore her rants. If the golf clubs were yours, then they are yours to do what you want with.
