Out of date chorizo: eat or throw away?

Bought it in Spain, it's vaccuum-packed.
Says bb march 09 but looks and smells fine.

If I used it I would cook it.

What do you think?

It is a best before. It should be well preserved as they are designed not to be refigerated. It would say "use by" if there was a problem.

So long as there is no mould or obvious nastiness then I think you will be fine.

I agree. I had some salami from Germany that was vacuum packed and didn't have to refridgerated...I ate it after BB date and it was fine.

Obviously check for any obvious signs that it is off before eating.

    Hi npsmama,

It's impossible to give you advice without seeing or tasting the chorizo. If you open it and it looks ok, then give it a sniff and if smells ok then taste a little bit. If it tasted ok then I would probably use it...but as I have said nobody online can really give you good advice without seeing it so it's really your own decision.

I'll add this to the Quick Questions on food safety / sell by / use by dates thread later.
