Why does anyone want ED?

I cannot help but wonder why anyone would want early discharge? I'm a little confused. To me getting ED means you can start to rebuild your credit file - but to be honest I have NO desire to do this or ever get into a credit mess again.

Are there other reasons why people want ED? Am I missing something?

Not really......all that changes is your no longer responsible to the OR (unless a BRO/BRU is in place at time of discharge) the bankruptcy still sits on your credit files for 6yrs anyhow....and me along with many others wont touch credit again with a 10ft pole..BUT you'd be suprised the number of people wanting credit etc after discharge

  • I asked the question of how can you get early discharge, it was not to re use any credit, that is over, it was simply to have the BR experience over, closed and done with, the OR, while a lovely person is not the way to live indefinately, i want the experience over, lesson learned and get on with my debt free life.
Closure and on. Whatever way that you wish to phrase it. An unhappy experience over, a bit like a divorce, everyone wants it gone.

  • I wouldn't touch credit again either but if you don't have an IPA and get a payrise before AD then you will have to start paying the IPA for another 3 years from that date which then extends the life of the BR.

It must just be nice to feel you don't have to let the OR know of every change in circumstance.
