Detergent free cleaning - especially for fridges?

Options
My fridge whilst visibly clean is a little wiffy, the foo is all fresh so I can not work out whats up with it.

I really do not want to be uswing strong detergents in the fridge especially near fruit and veg.

Can anyone suggest some detergent/synthetic free way for me to clean the fridge and keep is smelling fresh?

Im also keen to learn a way of getting odour out of carpets - I live in a shred house and the carpet doesnt smell too great, mainly smokey smell ( I dont smoke, its from the past occupant ). Again I would prefer to use nice natural products rather than harsh chemicals.

Any help is greatly appriciated.
