Hi
Of my three usb ports two are faulty
One is wobbly
The other shuts down my laptop if I stick anything in it
Is it possible to replace the usb ports ?
Could I buy some from maplins or somewhere ?
If so how do I know what I need ?
Is there somewhere I can see step by step to do it ?
I asked in a local independant PC shop he just said chuck it and buy a new laptop !
Sadly not viable at the moment
I would appreciate any help on this please

Radiospares or Farnell would sell USB sockets. However yours I suspect are just loose and can be refitted, just takes time to dismantle and resolder up the parts.0

Or buy a pcmcia or express card, about £10.0

Is there a techie site that would show a step by step tutorial ?
My husband I believe is capable of doing a dismantle & resolder but a guide would be great ?
Thanks for answering both of you"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."

Soldering those sockets back on isn't all that easy if you've got a rework station it's relatively easy but not really something you can just sit down at the table and a soldering iron and do0

what does that mean?
"isn't all that easy if you've got a rework station" have I got that right?
Or maybe "it's relatively easy but not really" is better.

I think I'll spend the next hour or two inventing commas and full-stops.
Let me see... I think I'll call it punctuation.0 -

what is the cable for in the top right corner?0 -
This Cardbus Adapter needs to use the supplied cable to provide power from an existing USB port."Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."
