Hi,
My name is CherryLips and I am addicted to Diet-Coke.
Step One:
We admitted that we were powerless over Diet-Coke - that our lives had become unmanageable.Living Sober.
Some methods A.A. members have used for not drinking.

Well done! I would say however, what about allowing yourself one diet coke a week? If you completely cut out it will just become that one thing you can't live without, and then, if you do crumble and have one you'll beat yourself up about it to no end!
Cutting down - absolutely, cutting out entirely - although not impossible very very hard to do!
you should allow yourself one 'treat' in the way of a DC a week or even make it one a fortnight...0 -
Yes I agree, don't give up drinking diet coke completely - maybe treat yourself on a Saturday for getting though the week?!
I tried to give up coffee/sugar and just launched into it straight away and just felt rubbish! Had a headache EVERY day!!

Me and my OH Go through about 8 cans a day. Lately it has been giving me a headache and i think it is staining my teeth .
I think i might have a go at giving up, only 2 cans left in the fridge.0 -
Well its 17:55 and I've succumbed.
Ok I will start tomorrow.....0 -
Another (not so) closet fan here! I used to easily get through 2L a day some days, and once while studying for exams and pulling an all nighter- 4L!!!! Now i'm being much better behaved (relatively) and averaging 2-3 2L bottles a week. Ideally I'd love to make this less but it gets to mid afternoon of another stressful day at work and its a choice between diet coke and chocolate - so I tell myself at least the coke has no calories! I dread to think what this is costing me but it certainly takes a chunk out my meagre groceries budget at the moment...Scary number... 30/5/09 £18,905.08

My word, I think I have found my spiritual home!
I subscribe to all of the above: first I liked drinking full-fat coke, but it was/is killing my teeth so I switched to diet, so even if the acid is still there, at least the sugar isn't. I even totally gave it all up for a while, then stupidly went back on it (BAD me!), now I seem to drink tons of the stuff, am hurting my teeth, my insides and my bank balance. My teeth are in a real state. Also, as I'm trying to lose a bit of weight I keep telling myself how there are no calories to speak of, so it's ok. I'm also absolutely petrified of becoming osteoperetic when I get older as I've never been a fan of dairy products or leafy green veg, and I've heard that coke (as well as other carbonated soft drinks) effectively leeches the calcium out of your bones. I have drunk swimming pools of the stuff in my lifetime.
Looking at that list of reasons to give up, why am I still drinking it?!Please call me 'Pickle'

Yep, I also am a diet coke addict. Up until last week I used to buy 2 2Lbottles in weekly shop and then prob another 3 2L bottles throughout the rest of the week once I'd run out. DH helped a little with drinking it but majority was me. It costs an absolute fortune and I realised recently that I was spending nearly as much on drinks (coke and other drinks) as on food in a week.
Starting this week I bought Tesco cheapie lemonade, ginger beer etc instead in order to wean myself off the diet coke but also to hopefully save a significant amount of dosh. 3 cheapie bottles were £1.20 in comparison with 3 bottles of diet coke coming to about £4.50!
Good luck!0 -
Shhh Tesco was selling 2 litres for a £10

Hello All!!
Thanks for your comments, thought it was about time I updated you all.
Well the first week went very well, I didnt have any DC - replaced it with water and felt so much better, and I saved £10 too!!
The second week hasn't been so good, but things have been a bit difficult, so I drank 1 bottle at work, and have had 3 bottles outside of work.
I currently have a small glass beside me, which tastes so good, but I know that I need to get back on track this week. So back to the water....
I hope all of you that joined me are having some success too. Would be great to hear from you again to keep me going.
Thanks xRemember how far you've come, not just how far you have to go.
