I took out a cheque cashing advance with H & T Pawnbrokers a while ago, At the time I was fine etc etc. Until they decided to bank cheques on my account but obviously no money was in my account. I had a letter last week to say that if I pay the full balance then the 25.00 bounced cheque charges will be waived. However I've explained my situation and circumstances etc etc. Today while I was at work, I get a phone call off a nasty woman called Wendy saying I promised to pay so on etc etc etc, I told her to call me back on my mobile at 5.30 I didnt hear my phone and she left me a really really nasty voice message saying ....... you're really starting to.... I think she wanted to swear down the phone but realised she got my voicemail. I get home and hear that she's now threatened my mom :O saying If I don't call her back then she will send someone round my house :( which i'm scared of. I'm on a DMP and I know they can sort it out the thing is I'm scared that they'll try and bank the cheques like the moneyshop did and take all my wages :( someone could give me some advice it would be highly appreciative :D xxxxxxx

  • unfortunately, the only way around it is to get ur salary paid elsewhere, that way when the cheques are honoured by ur bank, u will have a debt with the bank.

and in future never ever get a cheque cashing advance, u can always register with a credit union u know, they are a much better bet
