Firstly hello all,
It appears it's time for the annual warning to avoid this company. Alas I didn't read up prior to purchasing from them and so am partly a victim of my own impulses. Anyway to my story and the reason I have been pushed far enough to actually warn others. I'll apologise now for the length of my rant but I feel it's vital.
It starts with me spending over £1000 on a PC and paying the extra money to have it delivered on a Saturday because I, like many, work Monday-Friday. The payment went through fine and on returning home from work on Thursday and Friday on both occasions I found the delivery company had ignored the Saturday delivery payment and put messages through my door to say I wasn't in (Surprise!). So Saturday comes and PC arrives so I wasn't too fussed, I unpacked it and checked it over, only to find that parts of it's internal components had been knocked out of place in transit. I fixed them and then tried to turn it on but the hard drive was corrupt so I arranged a return. To be fair I thought this could just be bad luck and probably a result of it spending the extra 2 days in transit than it should have. OC advised that I take some of the internal components out and package them safely with the return in order to avoid further damage, which I did. I detailed everything that happened through their webnotes system but received no responses.
Next I take a morning off work so it can be returned and all goes well. After a week of waiting they eventually send me a 'replacement', it was actually the same PC and again it had spent 3 days in a van being battered. So I open the box to find the components I had wrapped seperately still wrapped seperately, other internal components scattered inside the casing of the PC and better still, some of the fixings to attach the components I removed are no longer there. There was also damage to the box and damage to the case. I photographed it all and called their support number only to find they don't work Saturdays! So I uploaded the pics to a free file uploader and sent the links through their webnote system to add to all the other compaints. I did manage to get through someone on the phone eventually and I arranged for it to be returned. So I took another morning off work and waited for the delivery people and it was only pure luck they collected it because they knocked on the door asking if I would accept a parcel for my neighbour, I asked if he was due to collect mine which he said he knew nothing about. Anyway after a phone call to his office it eventually went.
So 2 attempts and nothing to show for it. Being the calm person I am I gave them one more chance. They eventually relpied to my webnote and saying they apologised and that on both attempts the PC had obviously been damaged in transit.
Now after about 10 days of hearing nothing else I called and explained that if they were going to send another one I would be available to receive the item on a Thursday and that I would be away after that and for the whole weekend on business. They agreed to ship there 3rd offering on Wednesday for a Thursday delivery to me. So I took another day off and waited in, only for the item to not arrive ! I called them, I sent them a webnote and I contacted their support forum and requested a refund as they hadn't delivered. On the phone I couldn't get through to the systems support people and the all the other lines were unwilling to help in any way. I did however receive a response through their forum and so I breathed a sigh of relief. Not so fast there people it's not over yet:(
Friday comes and I get to my hotel after a long day working and travelling and check my email only to find to my horror and email from OC saying they have shipped the PC and it will arrive Saturday. Since then the PC has been returned to OC and yet again I find out today been reshipped to me. I have contacted the courier and asked them to return it to OC and I have contacted OC yet again to request the refund they have already agreed to provide!!
My advice - Don't touch them with a barge pole, ever and I mean ever. If you think about, take yourself outside and give yourself a serious talking to!! My original order was placed on 12 May and I still have nothing.
My pain will continue as I feel I may need to go down the legal route to get my money back. But if you did get this far, THANK YOU as Bob once said it's good to talk!

I know alot of people who use Overclockers to buy PC goods with no problems atall =\0

I have always believed that you can hear good and bad about all companies but to have personally experienced this company's severe lack of 'customer service' it will certainly not be seeing any of my money again. That's assuming I get it back of course.0

I have built 2 computers all with parts from OCUK and have never had any problems with them at all.
Even been to a few LAN events and had mods done and always happy with their work and deliveries , i find it strange you have had such a hard time.0 -
I have ordered from overclockers in the past and had the same issue with delivery, told it would be delivered on a specific day etc etc...
It didnt come on the day they said, so I phoned them up and asked about it only to be told that they never had any stock and that the system was wrong...I couldnt understand how it got to the shipped status when it wasnt in stock...
Anyway, ended up getting a refund and going to EBUYER to get the item, never had any issues with them recently, last problem was in 2003 with them but their customer service are much better now.
I might order from OC again but typically Ebuyer is always cheaper and their 5 day super save del is free...but whats even better is that most the time I opt for this option, i get it within 1 or 2 days anyway! :beer:0 -
Any company can foul up - I have to say I have used them for 90% of my computer purchases for 6 years or more and been very happy. There have been problems - a dead motherboard, a banjaxed hard drive, but in each case they were replaced without fuss or significant delay.
It's a shame you've had major problems, but they are not all bad by any means. I've no links with OCUK - just a long-term customer.0 -
I think the fact they resent the item so many times shows they werent trying to mess you about OP ,0

overclockers are great IMHO0

Quoted for truth.
So one person or a few people post negative press due to mishaps and issues they had with specific orders.
Personally use the site a fair bit and am a member of the forums there. I've seen far more positive press than I can remember and only a few niggily bad ones when individuals have had a bad time.
A trusted and decent computer company who offer good deals/advice.
Better than the CURRYDIXONPCWORLD Brand stores group by 100 miles.
There are alternatives out there, but for people who love their hardware - overclockers.co.uk is the place to be.

From what I can figure the issue is with their system builders. The fact they keep trying to resend the item is irrelevant as they had agreed to refund the money. If they had bothered to talk to me I would probably still accepting their goods. But the key points are:
1. They failed to deliver a working PC twice.
2. They have ignored every attempt to resolve the issue, through their own agreed method of comms.
3. They are still trying to send me goods I requested a refund for and they agreed to.
They simple have the poorest customer services I have ever encountered. I work in IT and have built every single one of my computers going back 10 years (components mostly purchased from EBUYER). If someone was willing to spend £1500 surely it would be in any companies interest to keep that business for return custom. At the end of the day they failed, their customer services has been horrendous and I hope none of you ever have to try and get money back from them.0 -
I was liking the look of the £1000 rig they have at moment. This hardly fills me with confidence:D
All though all these Gaming sites have good & bad reviews. What does seem to be common is goods being damaged by the delivery people.
Maybe someone should stick a big sticker on the box saying "handle this gently you big dumb idiot":D
Can just imagine my lovely £1000 rig tossing and turning inside the van:eek:0
