I have a mortgage with my brother of Approx 135 K fixed for about another four years, However in the meantime iv'e got married, My wife has a mortgage in her name only for Approx 104 K which is up for re mortgage in six months, I would like to have my name added to my wife's mortgage so that we can get a better deal and still keep my name on the mortgage with my brother. I heard off a friend that there is a rent a room scheme which is tax free up to approx 6 k is this correct ? and could i use this income to offset my brother's mortgage in effect ???
