Had OR interview this morning

The lady was very friendly and polite, didn't go into much detail about specifics of my debts as they were all pre 2005,just wanted an indication of how i got into debt, they looked at my IVA and saw that i had paid into it for 30 months and think that went in my favour in the sense that they could see i made a concious effort to do something about my debts.
Got an IPA for £98 which i was happy about as i thought they were going to reduce things like pet care and food aswell as a few others, the only things they didn't allow on my SOA was a contingency fund, internet, sky and birthdays/holidays which gave me a surplus of £215 and she then took off money for dentistry and haircuts which i didn't argue with.
The only problem area is the car situation, which i had as an asset on my IVA and traded it in with my partner in 2007 for £5200,she spoke to the OR himself and he said its classed as a loan and they will be writing to him asking him for the full amount! She then said(that she shouldnt really say this)that he will need to send in a written case of how much he will offer and why,i.e the fact that i have had 2 years use of the car we traded it in for,not sure how much to offer tho,i was thinking £3000,any suggestions??
She also said i would only hear from them if they needed anymore information about me so i'm hoping they dont as she said it was a fairly straightforward case and cant see and dishonesty or fraudulent activity.
I feel a lot better but still have that slight worry that they will find something thats wrong, maybe i'm just being pessimistic.
Just so glad its all over, now hopefully i can eat and sleep!!

Glad it all went well. i guess you were expecting the car to be an issue, so nothing unexpected.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Yes the "things will go quiet and you will only hear from us if we need more info" is perfectly normal and standard.
Can not help on the car issue as i never had one. The only thing i can say is that OR's use the parkers guide when getting a valuation for cars so may well be worth your while seeing what sort of value the car has/would have now.DxFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

so what do they actually do now regarding my case? just file it and set up my NT tax code and IPA? They said IPA will start from september, why so long til it starts? I'd rather it started now and finish 3 years from now rather then wait.0

Now they inform all your creditors(they have 8 wks from date of bc to inform them) that you are bc. Then they write up a report of how you got into debt ect. They then send your file(usually not always)over to the RTLU. They apply the administer the IPA and NT via the RTLU and moonbever(the collectors) and that will be it unless you are lucky enough to get ED,in which case you will usually be send an IPOQ after about 5 months.DxFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

Haircuts/health they should allow as it is in the guidelines but holiday/birthdays are down to the OR's disrection(sp)as are the amounts for ALL the other allowances. I am afraid it is rare to find two OR's that appear to agree on a persons allowances.DxFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

Yes, we can only say what the OR normally allows from what we see on this forum. If your OR had a bad night the night before;), who says what he/she will decide to cut back/dissallow. You can of course contest it if you think your OR has been harsh. Just do not sign anything, then complain as you won't have a leg to stand on.Free impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau
