Sofa Stain

Hi all,
Bought a brand new lovely sofa in April. Its cream and a kind of waffle material. DH is incredibly clumsy and its all ready been stained quite a lot (all on the side he sits on I hasten to add!) I'm looking for any tips to get the stains off.
The first stain is on the main cushion. I believe it was some kind of sauce. In the cleaning instructions that came with sofa it said no products just a damp cloth. Well, this has made it worse. The stain now has a large ringed area around it.
The second stain is on the main base of the sofa and is bike grease. We managed to brush the worst of it off at the time but there is still a black mark on the material.
Any suggestions?

Manufacturers very often put this type of instruction to cover themselves.
Do the cushion covers come off? It might be worth trying them in a gentle wash in the washing machine then putting them back on the cushion while the covers are still damp so they can be stretched into shape.
Personally, I would try using stardrops on the grease - it has always done well for me - test on an inconspicuous area first. Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

A solution of borax and water may help with the sauce stain. It works on coffee stains and they are quite hard to remove. I have successfuly removed sofa covers and washed them on a gentle wash contrary to manufacturers instructions.0

Thanks!
I think as a first step I'll try some stardrops as I have them to hand. Hopefully that'll do the trick. If not I'll try the other suggestions.0 -
OOPs it sounds like you used a little too much water and have a water stain to boot. My OH has worked in cleaning for years and he said try dry foam carpet shampoo on fabric sofas allow to dry and hoover or brush off. HTH xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
