natwest solo account

i have a natwest solo account and am going br on the 1st July:eek: i have just spoken to them on the phone to cancel a direct debit and asked them wether i would be able to keep this account and the lady on the phone sais yes no problem the account would not be closed, i have opened a co op account and all direct debits and my wages get paid into this but oh wages are still paid into the natwest ac, question is should i play safe and get wages switched to co op?? the natwest would be great to keep as it is very convinient but do not want to be left with account frozen:confused:
thanks for all your help

that natwest account will be frozen , and furthermore you are not allowed to use it.
The reason being that it was opened prior to bankruptcy.
With the co op basic account , they will let you keep it given that you have only just opened it and not used it , but you must discuss this with the OR because , technically you should not open any accounts until the bankruptcy hearing is completed , but the OR will almost certainly let you keep your coop account

    Hi

Mine is still open ( Step account ) and I opened mine way before I went BR and OR has no interest in it. I also opened Co op account before BR and used it for DDs an S/O's and still use it to this day.

As long as there is not loads in your account and you explain to the OR what the account is for and why it is set up I cannot see a problem. Unless you live in Brighton as I hear the OR there does not like Cashminder accounts open before BR.

  • I was made BR and have had a Natwest Step account since 2002, I have never been in debt with them, had no loans outstanding. The OR had no interest in that account as it was a basic account. I did have a Natwest First Reserve account which the OR insisted was closed. I spoke to Natwest after I was made BR, and they have allowed me to keep my account running. Have had absolutly no problems with them at all, AD discharge is 7 weeks away and counting!!

Sorry, I wouldn't trust Natwest. They are not known for being BR friendly and have the habit of closing accounts when they feel like it.
Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free :)
    Mortgage free since 2014 :)

Our Natwest were very helpful and allowd us to open a First Reserve (with Solo card) and also an e savings account post BR.

To be honest they were the only bank that were helpful.
