are you making one hamper or a little hamper each? Tesco last week had some glass tealight holders reduced to about 12p -bought a few for teacher xmas pressies to give with tealight. Also had some facepack sachets 4 for £3.0

I am making one big hamper and I am putting things like tea bags, different boxes of speciality teas, coffee and decaf, sugar and splenda, and quite a variety of biscuits. Not very personal as such but will definitely come in handy, lol.

dont forget some chocolates!
very handy at the end of fun-filled day
Your hamper sounds lovely, i'm sure the ladies will love it.0 -
Teachers get lots and lots of presents from children at this time of year so bear in mind that whilst the thought is always lovely, sometimes we simply don't have enough room to put ornaments and trinkets and unfortunately they often have to be thrown out/donated to charity.
So I would suggest:
Definitely get your son to make a card. Whilst teachers can't keep everything I know lots of teachers who never throw out any cards given to them by a child.
The suggestion of tea, coffee, biscuits is a good one as they are useful but again teachers might get a lot of these at this time of year. A mug could also be a good idea, teachers get very territorial about their mugs in the staff room!
A cake baked by your son (ahem you whilst your son makes a mess!) and decorated with a particular memory or picture that will mean something.
Have you thought about something for the classroom? I am not a primary teacher but I would be delighted with some books to add to my classroom library (for preschool teachers these could be picture books that they could enjoy with future classes and think of your son year after year when they read them).
A nice plant for the classroom. Something one of the teachers on one of my placements always said she was going to buy to cheer the classroom up but never actually got round to it.
I know a number of teachers who have a soft spot for cuddly animals on their desk!
That's all I can come up with just now. I'm doing secondary teacher training so I haven't really been doing this long enough or in the right sector to be very helpful but that's my twopenneth. Teacher gifts can often become more about parent snobbery so don't let yourself get sucked in by others' opinions because I would love any of these cheap, thoughtful gifts.0 -
I have bought lots of boxes of Maltesers in Tesco (£1 a box on special offer at mo) for my sons' school and playschool teachers/helpers. For my DS1's teacher I am also going to make a teacher's surivival kit containing these items...
Tissues - to wipe away the tears, yours and theirs
Shiny Penny - to remind you each child shines in their own special way
Paper Clip - to hold everything together
Crayon - To colour your day bright and cheerful
Elastic Band - to remind you to be flexible
Jigsaw Piece - because without you the class wouldn't be complete
Marbles - to replace the ones you may lose
Eraser - to remind you everyone makes mistakes and they can be erased
Starburst - to give you a burst of energy when you need it
Also going to make a post it note holder, a card from me and my DS will make her a card. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0
