If you're trying to lose weight and don't have other uses for the fat/juices, throw in a handful of dry oats and stir around until the fat has been absorbed. The birds will go crazy for them.

    Good afternoon

firstly thank you to everyone here who gives me all the motivation, inspiration and entertainment I need to continue my OS ways without feeling like a "proper tight a*se" as my friends call me.

Cooked a roast chicken 2 days ago (I aim to get at least 8 meals from it,including lunches, dinnners)

But I have quite a bit of chicken fat in my fridge which I usually throw away, what can I do with it?
    Happy days

Roast potatoes. Traditionally cooked with duck fat, but chicken will prove a suitable alternative.
For myself I am an optimist - there does not seem to be much use being anything else.

  • You can mix 1 part with 5 parts water, add mashed potatoes (left overs) few peas and carrots and you have a thick warmer broth for the cold August summer nights!

    Hi toddles,

I save it in small containers in the fridge and use it for roast potatoes or general frying.

This earlier thread has more ideas:

I'll add your thread to it once you've had some more suggestions.

I'll save duck fat which is wonderful for roast potatoes but find the chicken fat a little watery by compaison. We usually save our for mixing in with dry oats for feeding the birds. They love it, and don't seem to be bothered by the extra calories which it puts on their waistlines!
