  • Sorry mate, but CCJ's stay on your file for SIX years, from date of issue. You can apply for a satisfaction notice from the issuing court. CCJ's should not affect your employment, unless you apply to work in the Finance/Banking industry.

Now completely debt free, but it was a double edged sword :(

As you paid after 1 month was up, you cannot get the judgement removed. It will stay on your credit reference files for 6 years from the original judgement date.

But you can get the judgement marted as "satisfied". That should help a little.

Paying my judgment - what do I do?

What can I do if I pay after one month?

If you cannot pay the debt in one month, you can ask the court to mark the Register 'satisfied' after you have made your final payment. This will tell anyone who searches the Register that you have paid the debt. It will also tell them when you made your last payment.

You will still have to pay a fee and show the court proof that you have paid. The court will give you a 'certificate of satisfaction' but the entry will stay on the Register for six years from the judgment date.

The court can process a certificate of cancellation or satisfaction within 5 days, and not more than 10 days of receipt, but it cannot do this if you do not provide proof of payment, the claim number and the fee. If you do not provide proof of payment the court will need to get this from the creditor and this could take at least one month.
    The fee is £15.

You can the send a copy of the certificate to the credit reference agencies if their records are not updated automatically to show the judgement has been paid.

  • I will steer clear of jobs in finance and banking then. Thanx again for your help. :p
