Gooseberry Jam - how to seal the jars

I've just made my first 4 jars of gooseberry jam!
(all from my allotment!!)
I've put the jam into kilner jars and have cut out some greaseproof paper rounds and sat them on the top. They sit ok but its not a tight fit. Will that be ok?
What should I do now? let them cool and close the jars up.. or just close the lids.. or cover the top with clingfilm and close the lids?:o
thanks!

Hi Butterfly. If you have got paper on top of the jam, whip the lid down quick while still hot ,then fasten the clips. OR, leave the jam to go really cold, then seal. Both ways are as good.
I can never understand the American way, which seems to be to go through the whole bottling process after the jam is made !! wierd....:j0 -

I ended up sealing them when they were still hottish, some time after putting the paper on the jam. they had definately cooled down a fair bit tho. Oh dear. Do you think they will be ok... or should I replace the paper and reseal??:o£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190
