Need to change the battery in my Polar Heart Rate Monitor

I have a Polar F6 Heart Rate Monitor and the battery in the wrist unit is low. Unfortunately it's one of those batteries that needs to be changed by an "authorised Polar Service Centre" (whatever that is!). The Polar website is absolutely useless and nowhere there can I find information as to where I could find such an authorised service centre. Anyone here has had this problem and know where I could go? I don't mind sending it off by post somewhere for the battery change.
(Or should I just ignore the warning and try doing it myself? I have not attempted opening the wrist unit but it looks like I would just need to undo 4 little Philips screws

If you've got a set (or one) of those tiny Phillips screwdrivers, I would open it myself. Especially if the screws are clearly presented.
They tend to only say that it has to be done by authorised dealers, just so they can get more money out of you. The batteries are likely to be a standard silver watch type, and you should be able to go to a watch/clock/jewellers type shop and pick these up pretty easily and cheaply.
Depends how long you've had the item too, as if it's relatively new you could go back to the shop and request a replacement??? I suspect though that you've had the monitor a while, in which case, you won't be too concerned about invalidating the warranty.0 -
Thanks for the advice. I opened the unit up and although I can see the battery, it is kind of encased in a plastic/metal case with sort of metal clips/restraints around it and I just cannot get it out  so it looks after all like this is something that needs to be done by a professional :rolleyes:0

I had my M22 serviced by Polar. The service itself cost about £14.95 and Polar turned it around within 7 days.
There are details in the link below about servicing / changing the battery.
I guess it depends how old the HRM but I do know people who have changed the battery themselves and had trouble after doing so.
