Bankruptcy and living abroad

Hi Debtinfo. My point is though... it would be very easy to provide such 'evidence' and it appear completely legitimate to the OR. I'm sure the OR doesn't have the power or the inclination to follow a trail of foreign bank accounts if you wished to hide such earnings.0

Can i just stick my nose in here and ask a question.
Im thinkng the same thing, I have not had my OR ponecall yet but as it is in a week or so, but I have been asked to go and stay with family for a break as alot has gone on here and to be honest I need or could do with a break, so long as I have a phone num, e mail, and address does anyone know if there is a problem if I go before my phone call with the OR and have my phonecall while im away?
My case of bankruptcy is not too bad, no assets and on jobseekers, I have sent all paperwork off today to them?
just wondering if anyone has info on this.

The OR does not take passports and it is quite common for folk to petition while abroad, emigrate on the afternoon of a Br petition aor move to an overseas job shortly afterwards.
Unfortunately the myths surrounding bankruptcy seem to drift back to debtor prison times. Thankfully we have moved on.0 -
I've nothing useful to add but just to say I don't remember being asked about Bankruptcy when I applied for my Australian permanent visa, they do ask if you owe money to the Australian government or authority. UK financial history has no impact here. We are actually petitioning for UK bankruptcy from Australia which is reasonably straight forward but it is difficult to get information on how badly it will impact on us here. We probably should have done it before we left the UK but we still hoped we would manage our debts then. Best of luck with the process Buttons.0
