Lent A contract Phone & Has Been Excessively Used. HELP!

Hey guys,

Long story short, I lent my ex my old contract phone. I said he could keep the phone and sim and use the free minutes and calls on it with an agreement I pay £25 a month and he pays the excess. It was a £25 a month contract, I've had a phone bill for £90.10 come through the door.

He hasn't sent me the money, and is refusing to get in contact now.

Do I have any options to get my money back. I simply can't afford more than £25 for the bill this month. There is not enough money in my account.

Anything I can do?

Chris.

Report the phone as lost. As for getting the money back what do you honestly think ?

Why were you paying for him to use it in the first place?

    I agree report it lost.

I agree report it as lost, however you will be liable for the bill I'm afraid.

Don't worry you are not the only person to have been silly enough to do this. I did exactly the same only I got left with a £500+ phone bill and he got a size 4.5 up his backside as I told him to get out.
Unfortunately you will have to pay it. But what T-mobile did for me was bar any outgoing calls. Let me pay over 6months and only charged an minimum line rental while it was disconnected. Once I had paid the bill off it was out of contract so I did not renew it.
Ring them and explain what has happened, they will help you out the best they can.

Arn't they an x for a reason, been stung myself for the big £500 bill to.
  • You think I could claim the money back through Small Claims Court? I have text messages and MSN chat logs with him agreeing to pay any excess of £25 on the bill. He's even sent me a text claiming he sent the money on Thursday from a friend's account, but the last time a friend did that I got it within 2 hours. I haven't barred his phone yet in the hope that the payment he supposedly sent will be in before Wed - 5 working days for transfers isn't it?

    Long post, sorry :)

Uhm..why haven't you barred the phone yet? Bar it now...he is never going to pay and you are letting him get away with it.

It's either 3 days or 2 hours for payments, not 5 days.

Get it barred now before anymore damage is done.

IMHO I agree with the other posters, you need to bar the phone before he has the chance to run the bill up further.
