Help needed to get money back from C and G

Hi, my partner and I put an offer in on a house in January. We had a mortgage adviser and he helped us find the best deal; at the time this was with C and G. We provisionally got accepted for this mortgage and so we then paid our valuation fees, etc, etc. After every little hurdle C and G wanted more information, e.g. proof of where we got our deposit from. When we presented this information to them, they wanted more and more information. It got to the point that we had gone round in a big cycle with them wanting the same information again. This got to June this year when we eventually decided to go with another provider. This mortgage was arranged within three weeks. We had a letter from C and G recently to say that they were still considering our mortgage application after they announced they were closing branches. This is ridiculous! I'm aware there's a recession but please!!! Basically, does anybody have any experience about how we could get the money we initially paid for valuations, etc? C and G accepted us, we gave them every little bit of information they wanted. If we were in a chain, I am convinced that we would have lost our dream house. Any tips would be gratefully received!

If you mean the valuation fee and the £99 application fee you won't get it back.
