Mortgage lenders looking to get rid of loans?

Hi

In the last month I read something about customers from certain mortgage lenders negotiating discounts on the outstanding loan to pay back the loan in full.
The lenders being desperate to get the loans off their books.

I can't find the resource where I read it again.
Most likely to have been on

MSE - Forums, E-mail alerts
Which? News http://www.which.co.uk/news/
BBC News article

These are the three places where I usually get most of my consumer info from.

Can't find a reference to it on any of them.
Starting to think that perhaps I dreamt it

Anyone else heard this and able to provide a link to articles etc, would be much appreciated.

Thanks
